A Legacy Forged on the Fairways
Tony Jacklin C.B.E
Welcome! Tony, is a retired English golfer best known for his success in major championships. Born in 1944, Jacklin won two major titles: The Open Championship in 1969 at Royal Lytham & St Annes, and the U.S. Open in 1970 at Hazeltine National Golf Club. He was the most successful British player of his generation and played a significant role in the revival of European golf.
He was also a key figure in the Ryder Cup, representing Great Britain as a player and serving as the non-playing captain of the European team several times in the 1980s. Under his captaincy, the European team enjoyed notable success, ending a long period of American dominance in the event. His contributions to the game have been widely recognized, and he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.
Golf course design is more than shaping fairways and greens; it's about crafting a narrative for every golfer who steps foot on the course.

Tony Jacklin: My Ryder Cup Journey
Tony Jacklin rescued the Ryder Cup from oblivion. Following years of American domination, interest in the event nosedived in the 1970s. It was Tony’s appointment as captain of Europe in 1983 that helped resuscitate the matches and launch the remarkable transformation of a competition that is now one of the biggest showpiece occasions in the world of sport.
This book takes us on a journey through Tony’s Ryder Cup career, his seven matches as a player and his four as captain. It details his friendships with some of the game’s greats like Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer but also chronicles the times when he hit rock bottom.
